The Scopa.  Kick up the dust!

Premium broom for sweeping roadies and leaving them in the dust.
The original VeloMotion.
One frame - many bikes.

Since it's beginnings Scopa was the universal  tool that can have many roles,
depending on what the owner wanted from the bike.
Since the frame can take different wheel and tire sizes,
which are the key component of the bike,
one and the same frame could be built as a road racer,
randonneur, gravel grinder, commuter, light tourist.

And one could even have both, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, just a quick wheel swap away.
Scopa, with it's current  iteration, follows the design of the Sequoia the recumbent fatbike,
with which it shares the rear fork design, a one piece U-tube lugged onto the main tube.
It can be made as a disc-only frame - which allows use of any wheel size, from 16" to 29"
up to 3" in width with 26" rims, or up to 2.3" on a 29er rim.
You can sweep roadies off the streets in the morning, rolling on a fast set of 700c wheels,
and in the afternoon you can kick up some serious dust on your favourite gravel path with a set of 29ers.
In less then a minute from Dr. Jekyll to Mr, Hyde.

For more traditional and lighter build, classic road calliper brake/mudguard bridge is optional.
Which does however limit the wheel size to 622x28 dictated by the short reach calliper brake,
or up to 2.3" on a 559 rim with a disc brake.

ST52 thin-walled cold-drawn precision steel tubing used for the main frame gives a relatively light frame,
enabling a complete bike to weight as low as 10kg with a few carbon bits and carefully chosen components,
whilst offering a superb ride quality of steel, and it's ability to soak up bumps and vibrations.

Adjustable seat angle from 20 to 25 degrees makes for minimal aero drag,
and increased comfort with the body mass more evenly distributed along the seat.
Bottom bracket is in the 22 to 25cm higher then the seat range(depending on the front fork and boom length)
Seat height is 62cm  with 700x25 wheels

Extra long handlebar riser is to be cut-to-fit once you figure out what seat angle you will be using,
and how much space for legs you need, but it can still slide up/down along the fork steerer tube for later adjustment.

Handlebar reach can be adjusted by changing to a different length stem.

Frames come in 3 sizes to suit your body size properly, and assure good handling.
S/M for riders 160 to 175cm tall
L for  riders from 175 to 190cm tall
XL for riders 190+

Frames also come in two different tube sets,
standard is the light one, weighting around 3200 grams, with a weight limit of 90kg,
and the heavy duty HD  option with a weight limit of 130kg (adds around 600g on the frame weight)

Seats come in sizes S/M/L/XL in glass fiber or carbon.

All VeloMotion recumbents are hand made in Europe,
and can be powder coated in a colour of your choice.
RAL palette comes as standard. Candy, sparkle or neon colours are optional
This listing is for a frame set, upon which you will build a complete bike.
Frame set does no include the seat. If you want one with the seat, go to our other listing, where it is listed as a multiple item listing,
and there you can choose to add a seat, a seat pad, and have that all bundled up as one purchase and one shipping cost.
Due to shipping limitations, no complete bikes are available at this time.

Frame set consists of:
- main frame with boom tube
- seat mounts and struts
- handlebar riser and handlebar(no stem included)
- chain idler wheel
- all nuts, bolts, washers, clamps, etc.

Glass fiber or carbon fiber seat, and ventisit pad are optional extras.

To complete the bike you only need standard bike parts, such as:
- straight 1 1/8" steerer fork, or taper fork (1.5" bottom)
- ZeroStack 44mm headset, or with a EC44/40 bottom cup if tapered fork
- wheels, brakes, drivetrain, etc.

Bottom bracket is 68mm BSA threaded. Front derailleur with 31.8mm clamp, down-swing type(cage below the clamp), bottom cable pull from the non-drive side.
Handlebar is 22.2mm for flat bar bike controls, and is also machined inside to accept bar-end time-trial shifters.
Rear disc brake tab is standard on all frames, and is of IS-rear type. Brake bridge for a road calliper brake for 700c wheels is optional(welded in place, limits the tire diameter to 28-622. With the brake bridge in place, you can go wider only with a smaller diameter rim)
Rear fork is for 135mm QL axle.
Handlebar stem should be 28.6mm (1 1/8") at the fork side, and 25.4mm at the handlebar side, minimal stem angle, stem length depending on the rider's position on the bike, frame size, seat angle, arm length etc.(usually 100-110mm will work for most people)
Handlebar riser + steerer clamp need 75mm of exposed steerer tube above the headset, and headtube is 105mm long - so minimal steerer length needed will depend on the stack height of your headset (180mm + headset stack height. It can tolerate up to 10mm shorter, perhaps even 20mm if the fork steerer is alu or steel)

Standard frame with boom tube weights at around 3200 grams
All other bits and bobs add about 1500 (handlebar, seat mounts, all nuts and bolts, etc)
Seats start at around 500-600g for carbon, and up to 1500 for large glass fibre.
Avarage builds with disc brakes, tapered carbon forks and carbon seat are usually around 12kg ready to ride.

If you order and wait for us to complete your bike, you can then choose a colour (RAL chart colours, or a few specials as pearls, candy apple, and metallic)
We might have some frames in stock, then of course it's in the colour that it is
