Description:
This 2-component translation is a frequent source of error on VDO odometers of various vehicles. The affected VDO drives are installed in many models from many European, Japanese, American and Australian brands worldwide.

The drive consists of 2 gears:
1. A standard gear in the variants E15, E20, E25 (15,20 or 25 teeth)
2. A disc gear that varies in number of teeth AND disc size.

The disc gear wheel is available in the following 8 variants:

12-K = 12 teeth on Ka small disc (disc diameter ~15.5mm)
15-K = 15 teeth on Ka small disc (disc diameter ~15.5mm)
15 sts = 15 teeth on Mmedium disc (disc diameter ~17.8mm)
15-G = 15 teeth on Glarge disc (disc diameter ~21.8mm)
16-K = 16 teeth on Ka small disc (disc diameter ~15.5mm)
16 sts = 16 teeth on Mmedium disc (disc diameter ~17.8mm)
17-K = 17 teeth on Ka small disc (disc diameter ~15.5mm)
17-M = 17 teeth on Mmedium disc (disc diameter ~17.8mm)

Before you buy, we ask you to determine which variants are right for you by removing the instrument cluster and checking the gears.

Hints:
We have a large number of speedometer gears for VDO, Motometer and other speedometers and instruments in our range. Unfortunately, the exact combination (vehicle model to gear variant) cannot be determined for every model, but we have separate offers in the shop for the known and most common combinations.
Buying a used speedometer may save you from having to repair it, but there is a risk that the gear wheel will soon break. In particular, storage times and cold temperatures also damage the gears.
If you have disassembled the speedometer, it is also advisable to replace the light bulbs. These noticeably lose performance over the years. They are available at any car dealership and aftermarket store.

If you disassemble the speedometer beforehand, please note that the shaft of the speedometer needle is very sensitive. Grasp the center of the speedometer needle and turn it counterclockwise. Pull lightly. Friction is all that keeps the needle on the shaft.
